Adding an External Monitor to Your Laptop

Most people love owning a laptop computer for its unbeatable portability and convenience. Many people are even switching to netbooks which are even smaller and more compact than your traditional laptop. They are all perfect for working from the neighborhood coffee shop or even on an airline tray table. The place where they can actually be the least convenient is your home! When working at home on your desk, this is the time when you begin to notice how cramped the keyboard is and how small the screen in. You may be tempted to get a second computer for your home that has a larger monitor that is easier to see.

Many laptop users solve this problem by buying an external monitor and hooking it up to their computer when they are at home. This way, they get all the benefits of a portable computer while on the the road, and the comfort and size of a normal monitor when working at home. Often the desktop monitor will mirror the display of your laptop. In other cases, you can actually configure the second screen to act as an extension to your desktop screen so that you will have more than twice as much room to work! Almost all laptops have a port to connect up a monitor. Depending on the brand and size of your laptop, it may require a converter to connect up with an external monitor but these are not too expensive. Anyone who tries an additional monitor with their laptop never wants to go back!
